PhD Voice (us!) are committed to supporting PhD students. We make sure that every PhD student has a way to get their voice heard!

We have our own social media platform – the PhD Voice Box. It’s dedicated to PhD students.

We also offer great services and products to make the lives of PhD students better and easier. These include affordable proofreading, a pioneering system that allows PhD students to give feedback to their supervisors completely anonymously, and more!

Owlstown (owlstown.com) is your online platform for creating an academic website that showcases your work, while being to easy to maintain and update. Designed and developed for PhDs (by a PhD), it has several benefits for academics that other website builders just don’t have:

  • No coding and no server maintenance means you can focus on sharing your academic content, save time for more research, and networking!

  • You can share your academic work in ways beyond just a plain list of publications, such as project summaries, presentation videos and slides, course descriptions, CVs, research statements, blog posts, etc.

  • Keep your website updated with all of your academic work, so people can be informed and inspired by all of your interesting research.

ResearchRabbit reimagines how you discover literature for your projects, keep up with newly published literature, and more!
How it works!
1. Add some papers relevant to your project
2. Based on those papers, ResearchRabbit generates a network of “recommended papers”!
3. If any recommended papers are relevant, add those to your project
4. ResearchRabbit then generates even better recommendations – like a “feedback loop”!
5. Finally, save your project so ResearchRabbit can send updates when relevant papers are published!

What is the Cool Research Pictures Contest 2021?

It’s a contest where PhD students and ECRs submit their coolest picture of their research and the public votes on their favorites. It’s that simple.

So enter, get your friends and family to vote, and win some awesome prizes!

Did you say prizes??

We did say prizes (with an “s” because there’s more than one prize, and they’re all sweet!)

1st place prize is a 1-year subscription to Suggestion Box by PhD Voice (total value is $1995). It’s a world’s first in giving PhD students a way to give their supervisors feedback completely anonymous! Unlike regular suggestion boxes, our tool is completely anonymous! We use a 2-Factor Voice Anonymizing Process. Learn more here.

2nd place prize is a subscription to Owlstown’s Premium Plan for 5 years (total value is $480), so you can have your very own custom website to share your interesting research during grad school. Create an academic website with the Owlstown Editor. Update your website wherever you have a browser (desktop, tablet, or mobile). No coding required. Collaborate with others. Free hosting. Use your own domain name.

3rd place prize is a $150 Amazon gift card (or equivalent online retailer), by ResearchRabbit.

All of these prizes are gamechangers for every PhD student, so what are you waiting for!!

Finer details

You will still own your research picture. So, you can use it at a later date for your own academic benefit.

We will upload your research picture onto our website (this site) so that the public can vote for their favorites.

We will also tweet out your abstract during the contest to encourage people to look at yours and vote for it. This will help you get more votes and win one of the great prizes!

This is simply for the contest and you have every right to use it (your own work) how you would like – whether that’s for papers, posters, presentations, on your personal website, etc., during and after the contest.

By sending us your research picture for this contest, you’re telling us that you’re okay with this.
