Article was rejected by the assigned editor because it was “well developed, but did not fit the aims of the journal”. Despite many papers on this topic being published in a journal, including a preceding paper using the same method in a different application earlier this year. Seems that the editor did not have the expertise or willingness to manage the review of a paper outside of their comfort zone. Seems to be a great journal otherwise, but was surprised by this occurence.
